Concept Generation & Detail Design
Concept Generation is one of the primary services we offer at Ardmore Craig, examples of our work include consultancy work, concept development, Front End Engineering Design (FEED) studies, 3rd Party Reviews, Patent Filings and Prototype Design & Build scopes.
We have undertaken a wide range of consultancy work on behalf of companies across the globe. The variety of such work is enormous with examples including the development of strategic plans for other businesses, provision of advice to private equity companies and independent technical expertise examining the structural failure on a subsea device.
Our concept development skills have allowed us to establish a reputation for developing robust concepts in rapid timescales, allowing these to be taken through the design cycle and into production when project schedules demand a quick solution. Examples include subsea trenching equipment, pipelay & pipe handling equipment, cable storage equipment and lifting equipment.
Our engineering team also have experience in working with international patent attorneys to develop robust patents for IP protection with our team named in over a dozen applications covering trenching, handling, marine renewables and pipelay applications.
Where time constraints allow, prototyping offers a method of reducing the risk of a new design by trialling it in a controlled environment. Examples of prototyping work we have undertaken include development of scaled fabrications for trenching trials and wind tunnel & tank test models for equipment installed upon vessels and barges.
Ardmore Craig undertake a wide range of engineering activities during the detail design phase of a project, taking a concept from the idea stage through to a final set of manufacturing drawings. Our team of engineers are experts in taking an idea and making it a reality.
Our team have huge experience in undertaking complex engineering calculations from first principles and against the requirements of a wide range of international codes and 3rd party standards.
We use a range of engineering analysis packages including AutoDesk Inventor, Nastran and Staad Pro to support our hand calculations and allow analysis on more complex structures or shapes.
Whether its associated with our own equipment and designs or that of a third party, our team can assist with assessments including PUWER, FMECA, Hazop and CE Marking.
Component and assembly drawings are produced using the latest 3D modelling software with our clear and concise approach to provision of fabrication drawings having received wide acclaim from 3rd party suppliers and clients.
Our team have extensive experience with the sea-fastening of equipment and structural verification of the underlying vessel structure both for our own equipment and third-party systems. Again, we have worked with a range of classification bodies, codes and standards and vessel types and can engineer solutions to minimise mobilisation times and costs.
